(Tweed, ON) – On March 4, 2014 at approximately 7 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Bethel Road in the Municipality of Tweed after a vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
On police arrival the involved vehicle was no longer present. Tire marks were observed in the snow proceeding from the scene to Trillium Lane and continuing on to Sugar Lane. The damaged vehicle was located at the end of Cedar Lane in a snowbank. Officers followed footprints up a driveway where they located the intoxicated driver lying in a snowbank.
As a result 58 year old Clarke MCDONALD of Tweed, ON was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Refuse to Provide Breath Sample. He will appear in Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville on March 20, 2014.
