Christopher SMITH – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Friday June 03, 2016, shortly after 9 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a reported collision on Elginfield Road just east of Walen Line.

Upon arrival officers determined that a Chevrolet Traverse had left the roadway and drove down a steep hill on the north side of the road. The airbags of the vehicle deployed, however the driver drove the vehicle back up the hill where it came to a stop along the side of the road. The male driver of the vehicle displayed signs of impairment. He was arrested and transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

43-year-old Christopher SMITH of Oakville has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol)

Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood

He was released on a Promise to Appear and has a court appearance scheduled for Monday July 04, 2016, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford. He received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
