Cherryl J. DIAS – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – On November 1st, 2014 at 11:45 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was travelling northbound on Highway 10, north of Charleston Side Road. The officer observed the driver of a gray Toyota Corolla exit from a private driveway, proceeded east across the four lanes of the roadway and strike the curb on the west side of Highway 10. As the driver struck the curb, one of the hubcaps became detached from the vehicle and was observed rolling down Highway 10. The driver then continued northbound at a high rate of speed, estimated to be travelling 100 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone. The officer activated the marked cruiser’s emergency lights and conducted a vehicle stop to check on the driver’s sobriety.

Upon speaking with the female driver, the officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on her breath and noted that she displayed many other signs of impairment by alcohol. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for testing. .

In conclusion, Cherryl J. DIAS, 64, from Caledon was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.

The 90-day Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make her first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on November 13, 2014.
