The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 138 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 11 people were arrested.
Man Charged with Committing an Indecent Act CK15021661
Yesterday morning around 7:40 a.m. an employee at Winston Churchill Public School on Crystal Drive in Chatham observed the man committing an indecent act while sitting on a piece of playground equipment. Although the daycare was open and operational, there were no children outside at the time of the incident. The man fled on a bicycle however officers located him in an alley off Phillip Street. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of pornographic material, methamphetamine and marijuana.
The 22-year-old Chatham man has been charged with committing an indecent act and two counts of drug possession. He was transported to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Break and Enter CK15021203
On July 16, 2015 sometime between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. unknown suspect(s) broke three door handles, cut a screen and stole a lawnmower and grinder from a residence on Richmond Street in Chatham. Total value of the theft was estimated at $500. Through investigation, police identified the man responsible. Yesterday afternoon, officers located the man and he was taken into custody.
Orien Crosby, 19 years, of Lorne Avenue in Chatham has been charged with break and enter and mischief under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date of August 28, 2015.
Man Charged with Assault with a Weapon CK15021748
Last night, the man and his common-law began arguing outside their residence in Chatham which escalated into a physical altercation. The woman left the residence and contacted police. Through investigation, the woman disclosed previous incidents of domestic violence where he broke her cell phone and threw a bottle of nail polish at her.
Officers located the man and he was taken into custody. The 40-year-old Chatham man has been charged with mischief under $5000, assault with a weapon and two counts of assault. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Domestic Assault CK15021734
Last night, the man attended the woman’s residence in Chatham and confronted her outside regarding marital issues. The argument continued as the pair entered the house. The man grabbed the woman by the throat and threatened her. The man left the residence prior to police arrival.
A couple hours later, officers located the man and he was taken into custody. The 43-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault and uttering threats. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault and Mischief CK15021789
Early this morning, officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham. The man assaulted his girlfriend and punched a hole in the wall prior to fleeing her home. The woman sustained injuries but did not seek medical attention.
The 27-year-old Tilbury man has been charged with assault and mischief under $5000. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) CK15021778
Last night, officers conducted a RIDE spot check on Chatham Street North in Blenheim. A total of 50 vehicles were stopped with no infractions observed.
