The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 101 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) CK15027813
Last night, officers conducted RIDE spot checks on Victoria Road near the 401 Hwy, Ridgetown.
A total of 30 vehicles were stopped with no infractions observed.
Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrants CK1507808
The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a 17 yr old male following a disturbance in Wallaceburg.
At around 7:35 p.m. Police attended a Dufferin Avenue residence as 2 male parties got into a physical altercation. There were no injuries and no charges were laid with regards to this incident.
However, during the investigation it was learned that one party was wanted on outstanding warrants for the offences of Theft and Possession, Assault with a Weapon and Weapons Dangerous.
He was released pending a future court date.
Traffic Stop Leads to Impaired Driving Charge CK15027828
Around 12:35 p.m. Chatham-Kent Police pulled over a vehicle in the area of Harvey Street and Lacroix Street, Chatham.
Upon speaking to the driver, the officer suspected that the driver had consumed alcohol and he was subsequently arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where breath tests were conducted. The test results showed that the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his body.
A 22 year old Chatham man was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 and was released with a future court date of September 29, 2015.
Motor Vehicle Collision Leads to Impaired Driving Charge CK15027830
This morning at around 1:00 a.m. Chatham-Kent Police were called and responded to an address on Gregory Drive East, Chatham where the home owner had awaken and found his vehicles had been struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, police spoke to the driver and suspected that he had cosumed alcohol. He was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where breath tests were conducted. The test results showed that the driver had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his body.
A 23 year old Walpole Island male was charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80 and was released with a future court date of September 29, 2015.
