Man Charged with Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample CK15018204
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a traffic stop in Chatham.
In October 2014, the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was not to consume alcohol.
Yesterday, police received a driving complaint about a van swearing on the road. Around 12:00 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed the vehicle on Richmond Street and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer suspected he was driving while under the influence of alcohol. The officer demanded he provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device. The man refused and was taken into custody.
The 55-year-old Chatham man has been charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and failing to comply. He has been held pending a bail hearing.
Men Charged with Drug Possession CK15018280
The Chatham-Kent police have arrested two men in connection with a suspicious person complaint.
Around 2:45 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a call regarding two suspicious people sitting in an abandoned car on Adelaide Street South in Chatham. Upon arrival, officers located the men sitting in a vehicle which had no plates on it and weeds all around it. Through investigation, officers learned that the one man was breaching his curfew condition. Both men were found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
A 24-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with failing to comply and possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
A 23-year-old Chatham man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking. He was released pending a future court date of July 23, 2015.
Mischief in Orford Township CK15018102
The Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a mischief in Palmyra.
Sometime Thursday night, unknown suspect(s) damaged the dusk-to-dawn parking lot light at the Crazy Eight Barn on Talbot Trail. The light was repaired and broken again Friday night.

Motor Vehicle Collision CK15018232
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Communication Road near Blenheim involving an SUV and motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle had to take evasive action to avoid the collision as the driver of the SUV pulled out in front of him. The driver of the motorcycle and his passenger, both from Sombra, sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 16-year-old Blenheim girl was charged with failing to yield the right of way.
