The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 128 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Five people were arrested.
Update: Motor Vehicle Collision in Blenheim CK16003930
On February 16, 2016 around 11:50 a.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on Talbot Street between Parr Street and Marlborough Street.
The pedestrian, originally from Woodstock but now a Chatham resident was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with serious injuries. The 39-year-old woman was transferred to London where she remains in hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, was treated and released from hospital.
This week, the driver of the Ford Taurus, Margery McNear, 94 years, of Chatham Street in Blenheim was charged with careless driving. She will be required to attend court on April 27, 2016.
Woman Charged with Breaching her Curfew Condition CK16007975
On February 20, 2016 the woman was released with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to obey a daily curfew of 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
This morning, around 3:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed the woman walking with a group of people on Raleigh Street near Lorne Avenue in Chatham.
The 18-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Assault CK16007944
Yesterday, an argument between the man and his common-law wife began at their home in Blenheim. The incident escalated into a physical altercation as the man assaulted the woman. She was able to break free, leave the residence and call for help.
Through investigation, police learned that the man had also previously threatened the woman.
The 56-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Failing to Comply CK16007375
On March 25, 2016 the man was released from custody with a condition to reside at a specific address in Chatham. Later that night, police received information that the man was not residing there.
Attempts were made to locate the man, however when unsuccessful, a warrant was requested for his arrest.
Last night around 6:30 p.m. police observed the man riding a bike on St. Clair Street in Chatham. The 25-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man Charged with Domestic Related Offences CK16007937
On March 29, 2016 a verbal argument began between the man and his ex-girlfriend. The man assaulted and threatened the woman. He also threw a frozen beverage at her while she was seated in her car. The beverage damaged the woman’s clothing and interior of her vehicle.
Shortly after 6:00 p.m. last night, police located the man walking in the area of King Street and Lacroix Street in Chatham.
The 28-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, mischief under $5000 and two counts of assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and Enter in Chatham CK16007870
Sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, unknown suspect(s) forced their way into CanQuest on St. Clair Street causing about $500 damage. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole three (3) Apple laptops with a total value estimated at $6500.
