The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 93 calls for service in the last 24 hours. One person was arrested.
Man Charged with Theft
On March 26, 2016 at approximately 2:15pm Police attended the Rear Canadian Superstore on St. Clair Street in regards to a shoplifting complaint. A male was observed taking and concealing three Samsung Galaxy Tablets and left the store without paying. Police located and identified the 29 year old male responsible and he was taken into custody. The Chatham man was charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released pending a future court date of April 12, 2016.
Police Investigate Break and Enter
Sometime between March 24, 2016 at 5:00pm and March 26, 2016 at 10:00am an unknown suspect(s) entered the Commercial Copy Center located on Grand Ave West in Chatham. The suspect caused approximately $500 damage and took a Toshiba Laptop valued at approximately $700.

Police Investigate Break and Enter
Sometime since March 20, 2016 an unknown suspect(s) entered a residential apartment on Wedgewood Ave. The suspect took a 32inch Smart TV, Xbox360 and a designer watch.

Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision
On March 26, 2016 at 6:44pm emergency crews responded to a serious single motor vehicle collision on Talbot Trail near Stevenson and Coatsworth Road in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a vehicle was travelling westbound on Talbot Trail, entered the north ditch and rolled multiple times. The male driver was the lone occupant and was ejected from the vehicle. The 52 year old Merlin man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The collision remains under investigation by the Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Unit. Out of respect for the family, the name of the driver will not be released at this time.
