Chatham-Kent Daily News Release – 07Dec2016

The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to 121 calls for service in the last 24 hours. Two people were arrested.

Update – Missing Person CK16041295

Yesterday, the OPP Dive Team arrived on scene to assist the CKPS Marine Unit.

Today, officers will be continuing their search efforts in the Thames River with the use of OPP divers and sonar equipment.

The 66-year-old Chatham man went missing Sunday night. As per the family’s request, his name will not be released.

Chatham Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16041526

On January 26, 2016 the man was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that he was to attend and complete a specific program. The man failed to attend numerous sessions and a warrant for his arrest for failing to comply was issued.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested. The 30-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Windsor Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant CK16041540

On August 4, 2016 an officer on general patrol was conducting traffic enforcement on Middle Line when he observed the man travelling 117km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the man verbally identified himself. At this time, he was charged with driving with no license and speeding.

Through investigation, the officer later learned that the man falsely identified himself as his brother as his license was suspended due to unpaid fines.

A warrant was subsequently issued for the man for the offences of obstruct justice, identity fraud, speeding and driving while under suspension.

Last night, the man was arrested in Windsor. Badar Falah-Abdullah, 26 years, of Curry Street in Windsor was released pending a future court date of December 20, 2016.

Motor Vehicle Collisions

CK16041469 – Yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand Avenue West near Violet Street in Chatham. Minor injuries were reported. Total damage was estimated at $5000. A 21-year-old Strathroy woman was charged with following too closely and failing to surrender insurance card.

CK16041481 – Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Lacroix Street near King Street West in Chatham. No one was injured. Total damage was estimated at $6000. A 31-year-old Old Castle man was charged with careless driving.

CK16041508 – Last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Richmond Street in Chatham. Total damage was estimated at $10,000. A 37-year-old Chatham man was charged with making a turn not in safety.
