(NORTH HURON TWP, ON) On Friday August 08, 2014, shortly before 11:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a vehicle travelling on Donnybrook Line near Moncrieff Road with a non-illuminated tail and licence plate light. The officer pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The driver displayed signs of impairment. The female driver was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where she failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.
Charlene STEWART (33) of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Twp. has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences; “driving while ability impairedâ€Â, and “driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in bloodâ€Â. She has also been charged with the following Highway Traffic Act of Ontario offences; “improper number plate lightâ€Â, and “driver fail to surrender licenceâ€Â.
She is to appear at the Wingham Court of Justice on September 18, 2014, to answer to these charges. She was issued a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the car she was driving was impounded for seven days.
