On Saturday August 15 ,2015 at approximately 7:00pm passengers of a pick-up truck were seen by a witness throwing two fountain drink cups that struck the side of the horse drawn buggy. The incident happened west bound on Line 86 near Northfield Drive in township of Woolwich. The incident went viral when one of the witnesses placed the event, complete with photos, on Facebook. Regional police fielded a slew of calls from outraged citizens. Police ensured callers they were taking the incident quite seriously and that an investigation was underway. Regional Police located the registered owner of the motor vehicle involved. Investigation revealed that the occupants of the motor vehicle and the occupants of the buggy were known to each other and the intentions of the cup throwing was meant as a joke”. Investigation is ongoing and charges of littering under the Highway Traffic Act are pending.”
