(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) –On March 21, 2014 at around 10:30 a.m., Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a break and enter on Evergreen Street.
OPP were advised that the homeowner had come home to discover a vehicle in his driveway with a male inside the vehicle. After a brief conversation with the suspect who stated he was looking for directions, the homeowner advised the suspect left and drove off. The break in was then discovered and called into police.
Investigation led police to set of footprints leaving the scene believed to belong to a second suspect involved in the break in. Several officers including members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, and the OPP airplane, assisted with a search of the area for the suspect(s). As a result a male was arrested a short distance away on foot.
27 year old Kenneth HOY from London has been charged with:
· Break and enter a dwelling house and commit indictable offence.
He was held for a bail hearing at the Woodstock Courthouse to answer to the charges.
The OPP is asking residents to be vigilant in recognizing suspicious vehicles that may be sitting in neighbour’s driveways when they are not home or vehicles that are travelling aimlessly up and down roads. The public should try to get descriptions, licence plate numbers and direction of travel and report this immediately to their local police service. It is important for this information to get to police when the suspects may still be in the area.
