EASTER LONG WEEKEND TRAFFIC SAFETY INITIATIVE
Over the Easter Holiday Weekend members of Central Hastings O.P.P contributed to the province wide traffic safety initiative in efforts to keep area roads and highways safe. Officers laid 89 speeding, 14 distracted driving, 7 hazardous moving violations and 3 seatbelt charges.
In addition on April 6, 2015 at 5:50 pm. a 19 year old male driver of Innisfil, ON was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle after he was stopped for travelling 135km/hour in a posted 80km/hour zone on Highway # 7 in Madoc Township.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND DRUG CHARGES
(Centre Hastings, ON) – On April 3, 2015 at 7:35 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Highway 62, south of Madoc in the Municipality of Centre Hastings after a man assaulted his common-law spouse with a weapon and damaged property inside the residence. It was then reported to police that the male left the residence in a vehicle while in possession of a firearm. A short time later officers located the male driving in the Village of Madoc.
Further investigation by officers revealed a marihuana growing operation inside the residence resulting in numerous plants being seized.
As a result the 39 year old man of Madoc, ON was arrested and charged with Assault with a Weapon, Firearm- Use While Committing an Offence, Careless Storage of a Firearm, Domestic Mischief and Production of a Schedule II Substance – Marihuana. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
In addition the 33 year old woman of Madoc, ON was arrested and charged with Production of a Schedule II Substance – Marihuana. She will appear in Ontario Court of Justice Belleville on May 7, 2015.
UTTER THREATS
(Madoc, ON) – On April 2, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to three calls placed through 9-1-1 in the Village of Madoc about a man engaging in threatening behaviour towards several members of the public.
Officers located the intoxicated and agitated male on Davidson Street where he was subsequently arrested. As a result of the investigation 58 year old Garth HAY of Madoc, ON was charged with Uttering Threats and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
