Catlin Daer – Drunk Driving – Dangerous Driving – Flight From Police

(Bluewater, ON) On May 30, 2010 shortly before 1:00 am, a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Bluewater Highway in Bayfield when a southbound vehicle entered the officers’ radar at a high rate of speed in the 50 kph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop but the driver failed to stop. The driver went down several roads in Bayfield before stopping in a private driveway and getting out. The male continued to attempt to get away from police, even after being handcuffed.

The male driver appeared to be heavily intoxicated and was arrested for Impaired Driving. He was taken to the Huron OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified Intoxilizer Technician to provide two samples of his breath. The readings confirmed that the driver had a blood alcohol level that was more than double the legal limit.

As a result, Catlin DAER (19) of Bluewater has been charged with one count of Impaired Driving, one count of Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, one count of Dangerous Driving and one count of Flight from Police. He will answer to these charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on July 26, 2010. His drivers’ licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.
