(GERALDTON, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit have laid charges against a Catholic Priest dating back to the time-period 1987 to 1989 while the accused was assigned to St John the Baptist Church in Longlac, Ontario.
Police have charged 56 year old Roger PRONOVOST of Geraldton with one count of Sexual Assault contrary to Section 246.1 of the 1987 Criminal Code, one count of Sexual Assault contrary to Section 271 of the Criminal Code and one count of Sexual Exploitation contrary to Section 153(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The accused was arrested on February 28, 2014 and has been held in custody. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Geraldton March 1, 2014.
There is one male victim relating to these offences and the victim was a teenager between 1987 and 1989.
