CAR THIEVES ARRESTED – Joshua GJELSTAD and Tiffany RHODE

(Prince Edward County, ON) On September 16, 2013 at 3:18a.m.officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)—Prince Edward County detachment received a report of a stolen motor vehicle that had been taken from a Sophiasburgh residence. At 3:32a.m. OPP located the stolen motor vehicle travelling Northbound on Highway 62 and County Road 28 in the Ward of Ameliasburg. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Bay Bridge Road in the City of Belleville. Three suspects fled on foot. With the assistance of officers from the Belleville Police Service the area was contained. Officers arrested two suspects.

24-year old Joshua GJELSTAD of Belleville, is charged with the following offences:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• Motor Vehicle Theft, contrary to section 333.1of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• Taking Motor Vehicle Without Consent, contrary to section 335(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
• Breach of Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

GJESTAD was held in custody for a bail hearing today in Belleville, ON.

19-year old Tiffany RHODE of Tyendinaga Township was charged with:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
• Motor Vehicle Theft, contrary to section 333.1of the Criminal Code of Canada.

RHODE was released from police custody on a promise to appear with a court date of October 23, 2013 in Picton, ON.

OPP are actively seeking an arrest warrant for the third male suspect involved in this incident.
