Bruce Richer – Drinking And Driving

(ROTHSAY, ON) – On November 30 2012, at approximately 9:15pm, members of the County of Wellington OPP Festive RIDE Team were conducting a R.I.D.E. spot check at County Road 7 and Queen Street, Rothsay. At this time and location, a 1998 Saturn entered the spot check. Officers observed two cases of beer in the back seat. Further investigation revealed one of the cases was open, and the driver, a G2 licence holder, had been consuming alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was administered which resulted in a reading of .08mgs.

G1 and G2 drivers are prohibited from having alcohol in their system while operating a motor vehicle.

Bruce Richer, age 29 of Holstein was charged with Novice Driver Operate Motor Vehicle with Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) Above Zero, Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and Drive Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Alcohol, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. His driver’s licence was suspended for 12 hours as well.
