BRUCE COUNTY ROADS CLOSED

MOTORISTS ADVISED TO STAY OFF ROADS

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is closing ALL BRUCE COUNTY roads as a powerful winter storm continues to pass through the area.

ALL BRUCE COUNTY ROADS ARE CLOSED WITH THE FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:

Bruce County Road 4 OPEN – Walkerton to Hanover
Bruce County Road 19 OPEN – Bruce County Road 4 to Chesley
Bruce County Road 23 OPEN – Kincardine to Bruce County Road 15
Bruce County Road 33 OPEN – Bruce County Road 20 to Port Elgin

The closures are in effect due to high winds, blowing snow and poor visibility to absolute white outs. Not all roads will have a physical barricade in place, but motorists are asked to respect the closures and avoid these roads.

The penalty for driving on a closed highway is a $110 fine and 3 demerit points, but the consequences can be far worse if you become involved in a collision, or stranded, in a white out.

The South Bruce OPP is currently dealing with motor vehicle collisions and stranded motorists in near white out conditions. Police are urging motorists to not travel until the storm passes.
