BRINGING ATTENTION TO NEW STOP SIGNS

(Marmora, ON) – On November 20, 2013 at 3:20pm Central Hastings O.P.P was on Burstall Street at the intersection of Linn Street in the Municipality of Marmora and Lake ensuring motorists were abiding by a new 3-way stop. The offence of Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop under the Highway Traffic Act carries a $110 fine.

At 3:40pm an officer stopped a motorist on Hastings Avenue for not wearing his seatbelt. The driver was found to have been consuming alcohol and he subsequently registered a warning on the roadside screening device. The 55 year old man of Marmora, ON was charged with Fail to Wear Seatbelt and he was issued a 3-day drivers licence suspension.

Motorists are reminded that traffic can get busy at particular times of the day especially near schools. For the safety of all children and area residents we encourage everyone to drive carefully, obey traffic signs and yield to pedestrians at all intersections and crosswalks.
