(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – On November 28, 2015 at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call regarding a single motor vehicle collision on Line 10 (West Luther) in Wellington North Township.
Officers along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene and located the male driver and the 2006 Honda Civic in the ditch. After speaking with the driver, police determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and he was placed under arrest. Police searched the driver and located a small quantity of a green leafy substance believed to be marihuana.
Further investigation revealed that the male was also involved in a physical altercation just prior to the collision.
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
23-year-old Brady HAMILTON of Wellington North Township has been charged with Impaired Driving, Over 80 mgs and Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada as well as Possession of Marihuana Under 30 Grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on December 29, 2015 to answer to the charges.
