Boil Water And Conservation Advisory In Clinton & Vanastra Area

On Nov 7th, a water main serving homes and businesses south of Clinton and the village of Vanastra was damaged. As a result, water service to those areas has been impacted.

The damage is related to directional drilling activity being undertaken by a contractor performing work for Union Gas as part of a project to relocate a natural gas pipeline 10 meters to the east of its current location beneath the Bayfield River.

This relocation work was requested by the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, who are undertaking rehabilitation work on the Bridge.

The top priority right now is public safety. Directional drilling activity has been stopped.

Representatives from the Municipality of Central Huron are working to develop a response plan to restore water service to affected homes and businesses as safely and quickly as possible.

Union Gas representatives are available to assist as needed.
