(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a death on Gun Lake near Minaki. On Wednesday June 10 around 11:30 am the Kenora OPP received a report of a missing person in the Minaki area. The person was last seen near the water and clothing was located on the shore of Gun Lake.
Members of the Kenora OPP and OPP Marine and Trails Unit (MTU) attended the scene and located a body with the use of an underwater camera.
On June 11, 2015 around 4:30 pm, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) attended the scene and recovered the body.
The male deceased has been identified as 31 year old William GIBSON of the Gun Lake area. A post mortem examination is scheduled for June 12, 2015 in Kenora.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the North West Region Crime Unit.
