(LAKE OF BAYS, ON) On Sunday August 10, 2014 just before 8:00pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Muskoka EMS and Lake of Bays Fire department were notified of a collision involving two boats on Lake of Bays.
Investigation found that in Portage Bay, an 18ft Sea Ray was idling through the water with four people on board when it was struck by an Edgewater boat with two people on board. The Edgewater landed on top of the Sea Ray, throwing its two female occupants into the water. A nearby cottager witnessed the incident and immediately went out in his boat and pulled the two girls out of the water. They did not suffer any injuries.
One of the passengers of the Sea Ray suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Huntsville OPP continues to investigate the cause of the crash. It is unknown if any of the occupants were wearing PFD’s.
The OPP would like to thank all who were in the area and assisted in getting the occupants out of the water prior to emergency services arriving.
