Boater Rescued From Lake Simcoe

(ORILLIA, ON.) – The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) rescued a boater from an overturned vessel on Lake Simcoe.

On May 21, 2015 at approximately 2:23 p.m., Orillia OPP was dispatched to a capsized boat off of Victoria Crescent in the City of Orillia. When officers arrived on scene they were advised that a male party was holding on to his capsized boat approximately 200 feet off shore. Officers borrowed a canoe from a nearby cottage and paddled out and brought the male to shore. The male was not wearing a life vest at the time of the incident.

The OPP want to remind the public to always wear a life vest when on the water. This incident could have turned out to be deadly had the male not been rescued as quickly as he was.
