(Hawkesbury, ON) On November 28th, 2013, shortly before 9:30pm, Constable Eddy Saardi was patrolling Main Street East in the town of Hawkesbury when he noticed a red Ford Explorer driving through a red light at the intersection of John and Main Streets. The vehicle was immediately intercepted.
During the traffic stop, the officer located a switchblade hidden in a lighter. Further investigation also revealed that the driver was suspended from driving and had conditions from previous matters, to wit: not to possess any weapon, prohibited device, ammunition, prohibited ammunition or explosive substance.
Benoit GODIN (37 yrs) of L’Orignal was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada for the following sections:
– Section 92(2) Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
– Section 117.01(1) Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
He was also charged for the following Highway Traffic Act charges:
– 182(2) Disobey sign
– 53(1) Driving while under suspension
Godin was later released and is scheduled to appear at the L’Orignal Court on January 8th, 2014.
