On Monday 23rd May 2016 in the early hours of the morning; at around 01:30; Barrie Police were alerted by a member of the public to a Grey Chevy Malibu apparently swerving all over the road.

Police located both the witness and that vehicle. After speaking with the 25 year old driver attending officers arrested him for driving whilst impaired.

Once at the station the driver refused to provide a sample of his breath and as such was subsequently charged with both offences, later released to appear in court.

Barrie Police were quickly on the tail of a male who was on a rampage after he could not get cigarettes from his step-mother.

On Monday, May 23rd, 2016 at 9:22pm Police were called to a residence on Fox Run, in the City of Barrie, in regards to a male who was trying to break in and damaging property around the outside of the house. The male was apparently angry his step-mother would not give him cigarettes so he kicked the front door, ripped off the doorbell, kicked the driver’s side door of a vehicle in the driveway, ripped down security cameras, threw a glass table which caused to shatter, tipped over a BBQ, and ripped the screens of the patio windows. He then fled on foot after he couldn’t get in the house, just before police arrived.

The 23-year-old Barrie male was located a short time later and placed under arrest for Mischief Under $5000. He also had a warrant on file for Mischief from damages done to a North Street address from Wednesday, May 18th, 2016. He was held at Barrie Police Service overnight for a bail hearing.

Occurrence Type: Police Conduct R.I.D.E Over Long Weekend

Over the long weekend police conducted ride spot checks throughout the City of Barrie. A 30-year-old Barrie male was arrested for over 80 and possession of marihuana. He was arrested and his vehicle impounded for seven days and issued a 90-day licence suspension. He will appear in a Barrie court in June.

A vehicle that had been driving erratically on Bayfield Street just after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday May, 22, caught the attention of another motorist, and police were called. The vehicle was located at Tim Hortons at the corner of Bayfield Street and Cundles Road. The 26-year-old Brampton male was found to be impaired and arrested. He later refused to provide the required breath samples at the station, and was charged with fail to provide breath sample. His vehicle was impounded for 7-days and his licence revoked for 90-days. He too will appear in a Barrie court in June.
