Occurrence Type: Snake Sunbathing on Roof Top

Over the weekend a Barrie resident reported seeing a large python like snake on a roof of a Dalton Street residence. Police and animal control attended and captured the reptile.

Police were unable to locate the owner of the snake; therefore it was turned over to a reptile rescue. Python and Boa snakes are prohibited animals within the City of Barrie.

The City of Barrie does not permit anyone to own/harbour/possess/keep/sell/offer for sale an exotic animal. If anyone is caught contravening this by-law they could face a $490.00.

It was an unfortunate case of wrong place wrong time” for one Barrie resident who had his vehicle parked downtown last night. A couple exiting a licensed establishment after one too many drinks began bickering on Collier Street as they made their way home. In his drunken frustration the 23 year old Barrie man lashed out and struck the side view mirror of a parked vehicle that did not belong to him. The mirror was broken as a result.

Police arrived and confirmed that the female was unharmed and the intoxicated male was arrested and taken to the Barrie Police Station. He was charged with mischief under $5000 and released in the morning once he had sobered up.

The owner of the vehicle was located and given the bad news.
