(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – The Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a barricaded person incident on Gore Crescent in the Township of Chatsworth.
At approximately 11:32 a.m. this date, Tuesday, September 15, 2015, police responded to the residence after receiving information of a barricaded male claiming to have a firearm. Two other occupants left the residence without incident prior to police being called.
A containment of the area has been set up around the residence. Local residents have been advised of the situation.
Police have not been able to communicate with the barricaded person for several hours.
The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) were called to assist and are currently at the scene. There is no risk to the public.
Gore Crescent is expected to remain closed as the investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 7:50 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015, the barricaded person surrendered to police without incident. The 69 year old male was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital for assessment. There were no injuries reported.
Gore Crescent has been reopened.
