(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Monday July 25, 2011 shortly before 7 a.m. the Township of Perth East Fire Department (Milverton Station) and the Perth County OPP were dispatched to a farm on Road 121 south of Line 76 where a barn was reported to be on fire.
Upon emergency personnel arrival, the barn was completely engulfed by fire. The fire was discovered by the owner who was able to get his 5 horses and 70 cows out of and away from the barn. He was unable to get one cow out of it’s stall and it subsequently perished in the fire.
The barn has been completely destroyed and the office of the Ontario Fire Marshall has been advised of the fire.
The cause of the fire or an estimate of damage has not been determined at this point.
