(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – In the early morning hours of March 5, 2016, the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Glendon Drive, near Kilworth Park Drive.
At approximately 1:25 a.m., a brown Ford pickup truck entered the checkpoint. Officers determined the male driver didn’t have a licence, and had been drinking alcohol.
The driver was arrested, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath tests.
As a result of the police investigation, 28-year-old Joel BARKO, from Plympton-Wyoming, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol and drug), driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, and driving while disqualified – court order, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer to the charges in a London court on April 25, 2016.
