Bancroft OPP Weekly Press Release

(BANCROFT, ON) – During the week of the 29th of August 2016 through to the 04th of September 2016, officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to one hundred and four (104) calls for service.

These investigations included three (3) alarm calls, three (3) animal complaints, three (3) assaults, breach of probation, bail violations, two (2) dangerous conditions calls, three (3) domestic disputes, five (5) family disputes, frauds, harassments, indecent acts, mental health act issues, four (4) neighbour disputes, four (4) noise complaints, five (5) police assistance calls, a sexual assault investigation, two (2) sudden deaths, three (3) thefts, fifteen (15) traffic complaints, trespass to property act, weapons calls and other police related calls for service.

Seven (7) criminal code charges were laid as a result of those investigations.

Officers also responded to eleven (11) motor vehicle collisions; four (4) involved collisions between vehicles and deer.

Officers conducted four (4) R.I.D.E. programs in the areas, resulting in forty three (43) vehicles being assessed for drivers who had been consuming alcohol.

During that same period, officers laid thirty four (34) Provincial Offence Notices, including nineteen (19) charges for speeding, one (1) for drive-handheld communication device, fail to surrender licence, fail to stop at an amber light, following to close, fail to occupy position with seatbelt, fail to properly wear seatbelt, fail to yield, insurance related charges, a commercial motor vehicle charge for insecure load, and possess unmarked cigarettes.

Bancroft Detachment’s Marine Unit was also busy on the water. Officers laid charges in relation to having open alcohol on a boat, not having enough personal flotation devices, and careless operation of a vessel.
