(BANCROFT, ON) – During the week of the 13 of February 2017 through to the 19 of February 2017, officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to eighty one (81) calls for service.
These investigations included an alarm, three (3) ambulance assists, two (2) assaults, bail violation, disturb the peace, domestic dispute, two (2) family disputes, two (2) frauds, two (2) harassments, mental health act call, three (3) mischiefs, three (3) neighbour disputes, eleven (11) police assistance / information calls, sexual assault, two (2) sudden deaths, two (2) suspicious vehicles, two (2) thefts, two (2) threats calls, eight (8) traffic complaints, trespass to property act, warrant and other police related calls for service.
Fourteen (14) criminal charges were laid as a result of the assault, fraud and bail violation investigation.
Officers also responded to five (5) motor vehicle collisions where one was involved with striking a deer.
Officers conducted eleven (11) R.I.D.E. programs in the area, resulting in approximately one hundred and eight (108) vehicles, and seventy four (74) MSV’s assessed for drivers who had been consuming alcohol. Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Motorized Snow Vehicle Act (MSVA) charges were laid.
During that same period, officers laid thirty six (36) Provincial Offence Notices. Nineteen (19) speeding charges, speeding in excess of 50km/hr on public trail, red light – Fail to Stop, Drive left of centre – on a curve, Drive – Handheld communication device, Fail to stop for school bus, Fail to surrender insurance card, Drive motor vehicle – no licence, three (3) fail to wear proper helmet, Passenger fail to wear seatbelt and other HTA offences.
