ATV Stolen While Owner Sleeps

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Friday October 29, 2010, Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a rural residence on Line 29 north east of Tavistock where an ATV had been reported stolen.

The ATV owner reported the theft to police after 7 a.m. but investigation revealed that at 4:45 a.m. the owner had been awakened by a loud muffler. At that time the owner thought he heard what sounded like his new 2010 Polaris ATV starting up. He looked outside but did not see anything suspicious. In the morning the owner went outside and discovered that the shed door which he had locked was wide open and his new ATV had been removed from the shed. The thief had pushed the ATV out of the shed, down the driveway and onto Line 29 where it was started up. The machine was heard heading east bound on Line 29.

The ATV is described as a raspberry red 2010 Polaris XP850 ATV with a slow moving vehicle sign on the back, hand guards on the handlebars, a front push bar, after market mudding wheels, front and rear aluminium suspension lock guards and loud HSM pipes.

The ATV has a VIN # of 4XAZX85AXAA773810
