ATTEMPTED VEHICLE THEFT IN ATIKOKAN

(ATIKOKAN, ON) On Thursday August 29, 2013, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated an attempted theft of a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck near the entrance to Bunnel Park in Atikokan, ON.

Sometime after 8:30 am, a culprit smashed a window on the vehicle and then damaged the steering column. Police suspect the damage was likely the result of someone with the intent to steal the vehicle.

Witnesses observed a Caucasian male inside the vehicle at approximately 8:30 am. He is described as being between 40 and 50 years of age, shaggy unkept hair, no shirt and a large belly. He possibly has a tattoo on his back or shoulder. The male left property behind inside the vehicle.
