(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – On July 3, 2015 at approximately 2:53 p.m. the Munsee-Delaware Police observed a grey Cadillac car traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Chippewas Road.
With assistance from the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police, a traffic stop was initiated. Officers determined that the 35 year old male driver had been drinking alcohol.
The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment for breath tests which revealed the driver had consumed more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.
As a result of the police investigation, Ashley HONYUST, from Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear, and is scheduled to answer to the charges in a London, Ontario, court on August 11, 2015.
