Arson To Residence While Occupants Sleeping – Police Seek Public’s Assistance

(MOUNT FOREST, ON) – On September 6, 2014 at approximately 3:54 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding an arson that had just occurred at a residence located on Martin Street in Mount Forest, Centre Wellington Township.

Officers attended along with the Mount Forest Fire Department who extinguished the fire.

Investigation revealed that there were two people sleeping in the residence at the time the fire was set.

The fire was contained to the back entrance way of the residence.

No one was injured.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office was notified however, did not attend.

This investigation is still ongoing and the Wellington County OPP is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to please contact the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit at 1-888-310-1122.
