(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County detachment is investigating two Arsons and several mischiefs in the Blue Water Parkway, Haldimand County, ON area.
On Sunday April 26th, 2015 at approximately 6:30 am Police and Haldimand County Fire Department were called to attend a shed fire on Blue Water Parkway. While enroute a second fire was reported on Winger Drive, Selkirk, Haldimand County.
Investigation revealed that sometime during the early morning hours of Sunday April 26th unknown(s) attended the Blue Water Parkway and set a fire in a shed which caused extensive damage. A vacant cottage at this same address sustained extensive damage to its interior after it had been forcibly entered.
A short distance away a second fire was located on Winger Drive which destroyed a storage shed along with a vintage vehicle which had been stored inside.
Four other cottages and sheds along Winger Drive also sustained damage to windows and doors in what appears to be attempt break and enters.
As a result of the subsequent investigation 20 year old Brandon BASSINDALE of Haldimand County, ON has been charged with 2 counts of Arson, 4 counts of Break and Enter, and 2 counts of Mischief under $5000 dollars. Mr. BASSINDALE is currently in custody and is to appear for a bail hearing at Provincial Court, Cayuga, ON, on Thursday May 14th, 2015.
Also charged with Break and Enter in relation to the property at the corner of Wheeler Road and Winger Drive is 32 year old Nicholas COLE of Haldimand County, ON. He is to appear in Provincial Court, Cayuga, ON at a later date to answer to the charges.
