Arrests Made For Uttering Counterfeit Bills

(Southern Georgian Bay OPP)- On April 7, 2015 at 2:19 pm, members from the Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a business on Lone Pine Road in Georgian Bay Township.

A male suspect entered the business and tried to purchase a beverage and used an American $100 bill, it was the policy of the business not to accept $100 bills so the male was turned away. A few minutes later, a second male entered the same business and attempted the same transaction that the first male had tried, also without success.

A second similar incident was reported to police from a business on Pine Street in Tay Township with similar suspect descriptions. The males were declined their purchase with the American $100 at that business and left the premises. OPP attended the businesses and continued their investigation by viewing surveillance footage of the suspects.

A third incident on Lone Pine Road led the OPP closer to the suspects and then officers observed the vehicle on highway 12 then southbound on highway 93. Southern Georgian Bay OPP conducted a vehicle stop on the suspect vehicle and found one female and two males matching the description of the suspects.

Charged is 25 year old Jermall Anthony Tristan DAVIDSON and 29 year old Habib Omar KAKRA KOUAME, both are Toronto residents and both are charged with the following:

Three counts of Uttering Counterfeit Money, Section 452 (a) and,

One count of Possessing Counterfeit Money, Section 450(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Both males were held pending a bail hearing on April 8, 2015.

Detachment Commander, Inspector Andrew Ferguson says, “The business employees did a great job by their timely reporting of the suspected counterfeit bills which in turn engaged the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Officers locate and charge the counterfeiters quickly”.
