(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On Friday, September 27, 2013 at 8:50pm officers with the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident which occurred at a residence on Valley Road in former Emily Township.
Responding officers discovered the body of Wendy Taylor, age 59, at the residence. The investigation determined that she was the victim of a homicide.
The cause and circumstances surrounding her murder cannot be released to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Following an extensive criminal investigation, with the assistance of forensic experts and the OPP Emergency Response Team, the victim’s husband, Iain TAYLOR, age 57, was arrested in Peterborough on October 6, 2013 for First Degree Murder.
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay, Ontario on October 7, 2013 to answer to the charge.
This investigation continues under the direction of Detective Inspector Jim Smyth of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch with the assistance of other members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Major Crime Unit.
