Arrest

At approximately 9:30am, police responded to a reported assault at the intersection of Duckworth St. and Bernick Drive. Upon arrival the officers located a 38 year old male suffering from facial injuries. Investigation revealed that the victim had been involved in a verbal dispute with another male over the ownership of property. The dispute escalated and became physical, the victim was then attacked by the other male. At one point a knife was drawn, the victim was able to disarm the male but suffered several punches and kicks to the head. The 36 year old suspect was located, arrested and charged with assault cause bodily harm and assault with a weapon. He is being held pending a show cause hearing. The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment.
