(Tweed, ON) – On May 25, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Bank of Montreal on Victoria Street North in the Municipality of Tweed. A lone male approached a teller and indicated he wanted money. The suspect left the bank on foot and was seen walking northbound on Victoria Street.
A short time later a black Dodge pickup truck was seen leaving the Village of Tweed at a high rate of speed by a responding officer. The driver of this vehicle failed to stop for police and continued driving south on Highway # 62 to Belleville. The pickup truck entered Highway# 401 heading westbound. Efforts to stop the vehicle were discontinued for public safety reasons.
Central Hasting OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate the occurrence. Investigators have determined that this pickup truck was stolen yesterday from a car park area near Cobourg.
The male suspect is described as being 5’8” to 6’0”, medium build, dark complexion, mustache and beard, wearing a ball cap and orange construction jacket.
