American Caught With Firearm At Border

(PT. EDWARD, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), on August 19, 2013 just before 10:30 p.m. responded to a call from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) that the CBSA had arrested and detained a United States (U.S.) citizen for firearms offences.

A male driver of a GMC vehicle had entered into Canada at the Blue Water Bridge entry point after apparently having made a wrong turn. After a CBSA primary investigation, the driver and his vehicle were referred to a CBSA secondary inspection, during which, a .357 magnum revolver was located. OPP attended and continued the investigation into the incident and held the male for a bail hearing in a Sarnia court.

The male, 52 years of age, from Chesterfield, Michigan will appear in a Sarnia bail court August 20 2013 to answer to the allegations of:

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm

Possession of a Prohibited Firearm

Importing a Firearm
