ALPR – Suspended Driver

(Madoc Twp, ON) – On November 18, 2014 at 3:45 p.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P utilized a police cruiser equipped with the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system to stop a driver identified to have a suspended drivers licence while travelling on Highway #62 near Cooper Road in Madoc Township.

Cameras mounted on the cruiser automatically scan licence plates which are checked against a database to see if the plates are expired or stolen or if the registered owner’s licence is suspended.

As a result of the traffic stop, the 37 year old male driver of Eldorado, ON was charged with two counts of Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He will appear in Provincial Offences Court in Belleville on December 17, 2014.
