ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS Weekly Report

(SUNDRIDGE, ON) – On Friday February 5, 2016, the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling the Village of Sundridge. At approximately 12:00 p.m. police noticed an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) travelling south bound on Highway 124 without a licence plate affixed to the rear of the vehicle.

Further police investigation revealed that the driver was a suspended driver and subsequently, Kenneth BARNES, 34 of Strong Township was charged with, drive while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) and drive motor vehicle no plates, contrary to section 7(1)(b)(i) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The ATV was impounded for seven days.

PERRY TOWNSHIP MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT

(PERRY TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated an assault that occurred on Sunday February 7, 2016. At approximately 10:15 a.m, Police were called to attend a Star Lake Road residence after a male reported being assaulted.

Police investigation revealed that earlier that morning, a male attended the victim’s residence and an altercation took place between the two men. Police arrested Christopher ROBBINS, 51 of Perry Township and charged him with assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code and utter threats – cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and fail to leave premise when directed, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday March 10, 2016 in Sundridge, Ontario.
