(NAPANEE, ON)- Detectives with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have laid additional fraud charges against a 38 year-old Stone Mills Township man after receiving a complaint from a second person.
The victim, an 81 year-old woman, initially met the accused, Kevin WAGAR, when he was a financial advisor for the Royal Bank. WAGAR moved to Edward Jones and later opened his own company called “The Wagar Financial Group”. WAGAR encouraged many of his previous clients to move their investments to his personal company.
The victim invested over $500,000 with WAGAR between 2010 – 2012.
In November of 2014 when the interest became due on the investments the victim contacted police after not being reimbursed.
Police have charged Kevin WAGAR with fraud over $5,000 contrary to section 380(1) of the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Napanee on July 28th.
