ALERT: Family Dogs Shot – Suspect At Large

(Marlbank, ON) – Officers with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for shooting family dogs on Henderson Road near Marlbank.

On Monday, February 15, 2016 an officer was dispatched to a residence on Henderson Road following a complaint from a citizen that his dog had been shot twice in the rear hip/leg area.

The owner discovered that the dog was injured when he called it into his house at 5 p.m. that afternoon.

The dog, a male yellow labrador retriever, was taken to a Veterinarian and was subsequently euthanized.

On February 17, 2016 another resident on Henderson Road contacted police reporting that on January 29, 2016 she returned home to find her three year old black lab suffering from what she believed to be a gunshot wound to the head.

The owner had let the dog out at 6 a.m. that day and returned at 7 p.m. to find the dog injured.

As a result of the injuries the dog had to be euthanized.

This owner reported the incident to police as she found it suspicious after learning that another Henderson Road resident’s dog had been shot and she felt it may be connected.
