The Chatham-Kent police are reminding citizens of their rights as homeowners.
Recently, a pushy salesperson attended a residence in Dresden and advised the homeowner that he had to come in to measure the furnace. The salesperson had a measuring tape in hand and told the homeowner that according to the law he was allowed to enter. The homeowner took a business card and refused the salesperson entry into their home.
Citizens are reminded not to let strangers into their residence. Do not be fooled by their high-pressure sales tactics. If the salesperson is licensed with the Municipality they will be wearing Chatham-Kent identification. If you have concerns about how a salesperson is dealing with you, ask them to leave, if they fail to respect your direction, contact police immediately.
