(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) Between Saturday night and Sunday morning February 8th and 9th 2014, Perth County Ontario Police (OPP) officers in West Perth stopped a large number of drivers during their regular patrols and at RIDE checks. They discovered two alcohol related driving offences.
Shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday night, a car was stopped on Perth Road 180 West of Brodhagen for a traffic violation. The driver of the car was administered a roadside breath test which resulted in a blood alcohol concentration reading between .05 and .08 The 41 year old male driver from Huron Kinloss Twp lost his licence for three days.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, a Dodge pickup truck was stopped for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Line 21 near Cromarty. While the officer was speaking to the driver, a 16 year old male passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of several bottles of beer. The youth was charged with “person under 19 years having liquorâ€Â. In addition to receiving a ticket, his beer was seized.
