(County of Simcoe, District of Muskoka ON) – Recently a number of customers have received calls from an individual claiming to be “from your alarm company”. These individuals will tell you that “your alarm system is not functioning properly”. These callers are aggressive sounding and will try to convince the customer to divulge personal information about their security system.
This is a telephone scam. Do NOT give the caller any of your personal details or details about your security system. A legitimate caller from your alarm company will identify themselves as an employee. They will let you know what the problem is and the steps being taken to resolve the problem.
If you have any suspicions about the legitimacy of the call, ask for a call back number and confirm this is the correct number for your alarm company. A reputable company will always provide you with a contact number at the time of installation. Don’t hesitate to call your company and put your mind at ease about your personal safety.
