(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On November 17, 2015, a member of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar patrol on Highway 400 in Carling Township. At approximately 1:28 am a northbound motor vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed and as a result was stopped for “Stunt Driving”.
The driver, Aaron CONTE, 34 years of age from Sudbury has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA). His driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating has been impounded for seven days.
The driver was served a summons requiring him to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on December 15, 2015 to answer to the charge.
Every person convicted of Race a Motor Vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
